Education Reporting - Study G-500
In 2026, the Legislature authorized the Commission to study "Whether the Education Code should be revised including, but not limited to, provisions relating to reporting requirements placed on local education agencies...." Res. Chapter 148, Statutes of 2026 (ACR 168, Pacheco). This study is based on Chapter 468, Statutes of 2024 (SB 1315, Archuleta), which required the California Department of Education (CDE) to report on the number and types of reports that local educational agencies (LEAs) are required to submit annually. The CDE published the report, but the report did not include statutory changes. CLRC’s study will build upon the CDE’s efforts and recommend statutory changes to eliminate obsolete, duplicate, or otherwise unnecessary LEA reports.
