Civil Discovery Improvements - Study J-507
Resolution Chapter 138 of the Statutes of 2024 authorizes the Law Revision Commission to study the law governing discovery in civil cases. Pursuant to that authority, the Commission is examining the impact of AB 383 (2017 Cal. Stat. ch. 189 (Chau)), which authorized courts to conduct informal discovery conferences if the parties were unable to reach an informal resolution through the meet and confer process.
This study will explore whether AB 383’s provisions for informal discovery conferences should be reinstated, with or without changes.
