Statutes Made Obsolete by Trial Court Restructuring: Part 2 - Study J-1401

At the Legislature's direction, the Law Revision Commission has been reviewing the codes and recommending reforms to delete or update material made obsolete by trial court restructuring. For details, see Statutes Made Obsolete by Trial Court Restructuring.
In Part 2, the Commission recommended further amendment or repeal of statutes made obsolete by trial court restructuring. The recommendation is implemented by SB 79 (Committee on Judiciary), 2003 Cal. Stat. ch. 149.
Among other things, the legislation repeals and revises trial court sessions statutes, repeals statutes pertaining to the coordination of operations of the municipal and superior courts in a county, lodges grand jury selection functions with the jury commissioner, permits superior court judges to adopt a local rule of court governing the procedures for the preparation, adoption, and annual revision of the countywide bail schedule, and makes clear that the court's authority to appoint and terminate a subordinate judicial officer includes the authority to delegate the appointment or termination decisions.
